Ellis Island was the gateway for millions of immigrants to the United States as the nation's busiest immigrant inspection station from 1892 until 1954, located just outside of New York City. Angel Island was known as the "Ellis Island of the West" and is located in the San Francisco Bay that offers a view of the San Francisco skyline.
